This weekend for the 52 Hike Challenge hike 3, we spent the afternoon hiking at Patapsco Valley State Park. It’s a great place for hiking with kids. There are a few trails that are perfect for beginner and experienced hikers both big and small. We chose the Cascade Falls trail. It’s 2.2 miles, with moderate inclines making it challenging enough for adults while still being manageable for children. It also leads up to the waterfall which we all enjoy.
The kids and I have been to Patapsco Valley State Park before but we’ve never hiked this trail and since my husband has never been to the park we wanted to show him what a beautiful place it is.
After our hike we crossed the swinging bridge, had a snack and watched as our kids played in the river. There are a few other trails in this park to explore and so many other family friendly things to do including fishing, kayaking, the playground, cookout area and more. We will definitely revisit it and recommend it as a great place to start your family hiking journey or spend a day of relaxing with your loved ones.
